Tell me, I forget, show me, I remember, involve me, I understand

“Tell me, I forget, show me, I remember, involve me, I understand.” Carl Orff said that, he was known for his new methods in teaching children.

At Stalybridge Music Academy we believe the best way to learn anything is to have a go, make it happen. This is why we start with general music lessons at 4 or 5 years old. At any age, if you are not sure what to play, just ask and our teachers can advise, many are multi instrumentalists themselves.

Our teachers use different approaches to learning to ensure that the students having one to one lessons have a learning program that is as individual as they are. Many of our tutors have experience with multiple learning styles, overcoming physical barriers to playing an instrument and specialist teachers with SEN training.

If you need a quiet time, a room without distractions and softer lighting for students on the autistic spectrum, let us know and we will ensure you have the most appropriate room and time. We have a ramp for ease of access and the required space to accommodate mobility requirements as part of the lesson space.

We are happy to use colour filters and use alternate ways of writing music as required to ensure you have the best learning experience.

Our small group lessons, or a maximum of 8 students, are presented by experienced classroom teachers who ensure everyone is heard and feeling confident in their part.

All our tutors are EDBS checked and undertake continuous professional development and safeguarding training to ensure that you know you have the best for your lesson.
