Covid-19 Update: June 2020

Chris Caton-Greasley

Our customers are our first priority - that’s why we want to keep you up to date on changes to the way we work, how we’re prioritising your needs and those of our teachers, and much more.

As a facility for children and adults we pay close attention to government and council guidelines.

It is disappointing to hear the news today from Tameside Council. Following the announcement that the R rate is over one in the North West the wider opening of Tameside schools is not happening on Monday June 8th. This will be reviewed again on the 22nd June at the earliest.

We will therefore have to put on hold the reopening of Stalybridge Music Academy until the R rate in Tameside is firmly back below one. The safety of our students and their families of paramount importance to us.

The full press release from Tameside can be read on this link.

Dru and I acknowledge that some students who are not having online lessons would like to recommence person to person lessons

There are also learners and teachers having lessons on Zoom, Skype and Facetime who feel safer continuing this way for now.

Therefore we have decided that only when the R rate is firmly below one we will reopen for a limited time each week for students who wish to recommence person to person lessons with a teacher who is also happy to do this. These lessons would be in room 11 with social distancing to be observed at all times. Additional precautions to be taken at the teacher, learner and parents requirements. This will not include singing, wind instruments or piano. Should the R rate for this area rise above one we may put person to person lessons on pause for the safety of everyone.

Regarding 'Track and Trace'; we will cooperate with the NHS regarding this service and this is one reason person to person piano lessons would be unwise at this time. We will review this as time passes.

All teachers continue to give online lessons on Zoom, Skype, Meet and Facetime to book a lesson please see https://www.stalybridgemusicacademy.com
