Playing music you love is an important part of learning any instrument. It is lovely to hear a student play a piece they enjoy.
"I love music, I love learning about it, I love digging into the craft, studying, challenging myself, practicing and performing as much as I can… I’m pretty certifiably obsessed."
I could easily have said this, if I had thought of it first, but i found this on a website along with the sticker.
There is only way to love what you do and to be good at what you do. Spend time with your instrument.
Practising, jamming, improvising, playing, enjoying, playing with friends, playing while watching TV, playing when travelling to or from a place, my son even played his uke while going for a walk. Play it loud, play it soft, anytime, anywhere.
It won't just happen. You have to make the time, as often as possible.
Yes there are times to worry about technique, interpretation and a lot of other things, but in with that time there has to be time for a little magic, a little fun and a lot of joy.
